Highway Access Design

Highway Access Design in the West Midlands

Highway Access Design in West Midlands

At JG Highway Design Ltd, we have collaborated with an array of clients, including individual homeowners, architects, landowners, transport and highway consultants, and developers, providing them with comprehensive technical design drawings.

Recognising the pivotal role of ‘safe and suitable access’ in the success of a planning application, we adhere to the requirements outlined in paragraph 108 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which emphasises that ‘safe and suitable access to the site can be achieved for all users’. We produce planning application drawings tailored to meet the criteria set forth by both Local Planning and Highway Authorities, addressing highway concerns in alignment with your Local Authority’s design guide, Manual For Streets 2 (MFS), Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), and Traffic Signs Manual (TSM).

Whether you’re dealing with an agricultural site, a garden driveway conversion, large residential areas, an industrial estate, or parking provision, we provide highway access design drawings. These plans may incorporate vehicle emerging and forward visibility splays, pedestrian visibility splays, and visibility splay cross-section drawings in the vertical plane.

By incorporating swept path analysis – sometimes referred to as sweep path – we ensure compliance, often serving as a pivotal factor in obtaining highway approval for planning applications. Integrating crucial vehicles such as delivery for supermarkets and couriers, refuse collection vehicles (RCV), HGV’s, and emergency service vehicles guarantees safe and suitable access for all users.
